HCH Administration was established in 1982 to serve the self-funded health benefit employer. By 1986, Utilization Review services were developed and Section 125 benefit administration products were added. The growth through traditional self-funded plans and managed care benefit administration enabled HCH Administration to become a contract payor for fully insured benefit plans.

In 1996 the company acquires Integrated Benefit Systems, a TPA in Springfield, Illinois. Advanced technological capabilities were acquired through the use of an upgraded software processing system.

1999 to 2000 – HCH Administration invests in management personnel to continue with our technological advancement and maintain our expertise in claims administration and provide the highest quality of customer service to our plan participants.

In 2003, HCH Administration acquires Employee Benefits Corp., a Peoria, Illinois TPA.

In 2004, the company acquires HCH New Mexico in Albuquerque.

In 2005, HCH acquires the Molina TPA division in Salt Lake City, Utah and the TPA division of HRH of Illinois in Moline, Illinois.

In 2008, HCH is acquired by Urbana, Illinois-based Health Alliance Medical Plans. Established in 1979, Health Alliance is a leading provider-sponsored health insurer in the Midwest, administering health plans for more than 335,000 members in Illinois and Iowa. Health Alliance is named one of "America's Best Health Plans" in the most recent U.S. News and World Report and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) rankings of commercial and Medicare health plans. Additionally, in recognition of its exceptional commitment to quality, Health Alliance has maintained the highest accreditation possible from NCQA for its HMO, POS and Medicare HMO plans since 1997.
